The first visit can feel a bit strange as neither the family or Befriender know each other. Before the first visit the Project Worker will arrange to introduce the Befriender to the family at a short meeting to make sure everyone is happy with the arrangements for the visits and to discuss what kind of support the Befriender will be offering.
It takes time for the family and Befriender to get to know each other and to build a relationship but both sides receive continuous support in this from the Project Worker.
