There are several stages to the volunteer selection process. Anyone who contacts Home Link about becoming a Befriender will receive an information pack which includes a volunteer application form.
Once we have received a completed application form, the Volunteering Officer processes the application and contacts the applicant to arrange a time for an informal interview. This is a time to explain a bit more about the service we provide, what our Befrienders do and to review the recruitment process, including information about volunteer training. This is also the time for the applicant to ask any questions about Home Link and what befriending involves.
If both sides are happy to proceed you will then be invited to join the next induction training course for volunteers. Following the training course, Project Workers carry out Post Training Reviews for all trainees in their area. At this review, the Project Worker will discuss the training course, possible issues arising in befriending, as well as your own background and reasons for wanting to volunteer.
